Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was the very first black artist to be featured on MTV. With this achievement, he separated a racial barrier in the music industry. With his music, he had taken over the world of pop music, which gained him the title ‘The King of Pop’. He, to date, has one of the bestselling albums of all time. Especially his album Thriller (1982) was awarded 30 times platinum at the beginning of the year 2016. His other records include Bad, Dangerous and History which are all among the bestselling albums of all time. Jackson is known for his signature dance moves such as the moonwalk, lean, walkway and the Thriller move. Even though he is no longer here, his music still lives on.

Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury, a well-known British singer, songwriter and record producer who was born in Zanzibar and of Indian descent. He was known as the lead vocalist and the songwriter of the British rock band, Queen. Freddie Mercury was also known for his energetic stage persona and his four-octave vocal range. Before he became a singer, he had been in 3 other bands (Ibex, Sour Milk Sea, and The Hectics). He died on November 24, 1991, from bronchopneumonia as a result of HIV/AIDS.

Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston was a well-known Black American vocalist, producer, performing artist and a model. She was one of pop music’s bestselling artist of all time with around 170-200 million records sold around the world. Whitney Houston had also come out with seven studio albums and three motion picture soundtrack albums, all of which have multi-platinum, diamond, platinum or gold certification.

Elton John

Few artists have had an impressive career as Sir Elton John. From the 1970s he had been established as one of the era’s most regarded singers to gifting the generation with The Lion King and his most unforgettable performance of “Candle in the Wind” at Princess Diana’s funeral. Elton John has always been an integral piece of the rock history for over half a century. Whether he was singing thriving ballads like “Tiny Dancer” and “Levon” or wild hits like “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” and “The Bitch Is Back”, his voice is one of the most recognisable sounds in rock. Being a true visionary with a tremendous grasp of showmanship and charm, Elton John is one of the most beloved artists in pop culture.
